Someone like me, who knows what enormous amounts of work is needed to build up a website like this, will always appreciate your job.

I was a member of the club during the 80's and 90's and was launched into my flying career by Bob Brett and Nick Crawshaw attending the APC...I followed shortly after them. The flying skills taught to me by Adrian Matyear, Eric Smith and particularly Roy Gaunt have stood me in good stead ever since. The life skills taught to me by Penny Smith and Eve Gaunt even more so. So many characters stand out from those days: Effy, Pat, Ken, Alison, Justin, Pete, Peter, John, Dawn and many many more. Thanks for the great start!

I've put a fake email address at the top of this, in order to prevent junk mail, but can be contacted via andrew&andrewmillsdotinfo, replacing the amepersand with an @ symbol.

Hi all

Started flying at Upavon aged 15, solo'd on 16th birthday and enjoyed many years soaring and bumbling around.

Hope the move went smoothly and all is well.

Hello there!

Have some great memory's growing up as an airfield rat eventualy old eneough to reach the rudder pedals! Gerry Sturgess and Roy Gaunt sent me solo at sixteen in 1986! Helped out at many inter-services, most notable at Bicester crewing for Ephy Darnbrook and getting into all kinds of trouble!! Currently serving in the US Army in Iraq working on Helicopter maintenance. Much love to all! See you in August i hope!!

I learned to fly at Upavon when it was a RAFGSA club called "The Moonrakers Gliding and Soaring Club". This was in 1961 when the CFI was Sgt John Williamson the UK British National champion of that year.

I have many happy memories of my time soaring the area and on poor days picking up a thermal over the cookhouse at 400ft.

Hope you are all doing well and the flying is good. Perhaps I will call in when in the UK in June.

Good flying,

Chris

Hello to everyone,

I was a member of the club whilst I was serving in Tidworth with the 16/5th Lancers.I seem to recall spending more time inside a glider than in a tank during my time in Tidworth,I hope everyone I know is doing well, best wishes to everyone,Hugh.

I was a member while stationed with USAF at RAF Greenham Common from 1983-1985. Somewhere I still have an address book with names in it. I do remember Penny and Eric who lived in Upavon. Many fun memories and good times with a bunch of great people. Especially 2 weeks in Aboyne. Thanks for letting me be a part.
